It's amazing, I was just on Donna's website and her hometown, elitist "Snottsdale' Arizona by passing an all inclusive equal rights law for everyone, LGB and T seems less "stuck up" than The HRC!
If it's one thing Donna is not, it's "stuck up." She has done some pretty amazing work and I think she is helping to lead the way by showing us that we can move past this.
As far as Scottsdale goes, I've never been there.
Thanks for posting.
Ethan, I meant Scottsdale is less stuck up than hrc, NOT DONNA! (she seems to be a genuine and compassionate person), in short a real SWEETHEART! P.S. Thanks for the response
Ethan,
I have for some time understood the militant gay hatred of the Transgender community. I have many friends, who I love, who are gay, yet the element of militant and dictatorial SturmAbteilung is rampant in the working of the HRC. (Yes, there are some honorable and fine folks in their ranks.) What every Transgender person needs to know is in the early 1930's it was the militant homosexual Brownshirts who raided the cabarets, dragging the trans' into the streets beating and stabbing them, and eventually to the camps as communist sympathizers. The Trans' of that era were the first to suffer under the boot stomping SA. Even Hitler recognized the danger of the SA mentality and terror; In one night killing Rohm and his chauffer in bed and several hundred of the SA homosexual leadership. Later, the gay who would not suffer the SA were forced to wear a pink triangle, to designate they were open foder for the militants. The militant gay had turned on the gay as well.
The HRC has, in my mind and view, continued the same position. It is blatant and like the long knives they are literally promoting the killing of the transgendered. The repeated actions of stripping Trans-rights and protection from legislation, even down to the local level, is a matter of history.
HRC is all about POWER, MONEY, and POLITICS. It has nothing to do with actual care and protection of those who need support. In reality, HRC has what it wants and will keep churning the mill to reap further control. They like other forms of lobby and PACs, are an entity to themselves. In no way do they represent the Trans-community. They have purposely driven off those of the Trans-community and publically displayed their disrespect and hatred. YES, it is hatred! Even their own board members were subjected to public embarrassment. No doubt that the HRC wants total hegemony over access to legislative power. My fear is over the impending growth and blatant persecution as had taken place in the streets of Berlin many decades ago. Because of HRC, my life, as has all Transgendered and Intersex, become more dangerous and placed in peril. As a transitioned woman, legally identified as such, I can be arrested and tossed in the “Bull Pen” in some localities, denied basic rights, and murdered with no one taking interest.
Who gave the HRC and the GLB coalition the right to represent the Trans/Intersex community?
WHO?

Interestingly, the riots that lead to the birth of the modern gay rights movement were started by gender non-conforming queer and trans people. Compton and Stonewall set the tone for queer or gender queer people having a seat at the table.
As soon as the gay (et al) community began getting respect, the "militant", (as Stellewriter calls them) straight passing gay men and lesbians immediately pushed the gender queer people to the proverbial back seat of the bus. Their philosophy then, and now, is that we hinder progress of gay rights. They have their jobs because they are either straight passing or totally closeted. They have the money and control HRC's stance, platform, and direction.
A judge in Monroe, Louisiana taught me a great reality. He told me, "Down here, we rule by The Golden Rule. Who has the gold, makes the rule."
HRC is no different.
HRC has been controlled from the very start by money. Money doesn't want gender queers in the bus, let alone on the back seat. We are the fags among fags.
When I met Joe Solomnese at the 1st annual HRC Gala in Utah at Bruce Bastian's estate, I was impressed and believed HRC had finally turned a corner. I sincerely believe Bruce Bastian was instrumental in that. From everything I know, Bruce talks the talk.. and walks the walk.
ENDA was the proverbial straw that broke this camel's back. I removed myself from anything HRC. I have many trans-affirming gay people who have removed themselves, too.
If I understood Donna correctly, we need to distance ourselves from HRC and unite as trans people and quit looking to GLB's to do what we need to do for ourselves.
I concur.
I am not sure what Donna Rose or others in the avocacy community are really thinking. IF the strategy is to continue the course, then nothing will change. NOTHING!
In my life, I made alliances and built teams from a position of authority and recognized insight. I would hope to see one Trans-Advocate organization become the centric and recognized voice for "all" of the transgender coalition of advocacy and education organizations. One voice, one face, and one solid position!
Mara Keisling of the NCTE is intelligent and speaks well. There are others. Who is the rallying point? Who can bring all of us together and fight off outside interdiction? Something to think about?
So, that my view; take a careful look at what is happening around us. We are being villified at every turn, and I think sooner than most may think, be identified as an element that should be removed from the public space. First denied status, work, and medical care, then rights and equality........ Followed by forced medical treatment and incarceration. The concept and use of electro-shock aversion therapy is still a reality, still happening, and along with a whole host of new behavior modification techniques, we are in danger.
GREAT DANGER!

Good interview and it was interesting hearing a source that was in the HRC. However I wish Donna would have shut up at points during the interview to have a two-way dialog instead of yaking away in her own world.

Kindly remove the " T " from any statement or location on your web site, from your HRC letter head, from your "mission statement" and from any other reference material, literature, publications, documents or any other materials you may possess, as quite barney frankly, we don't want a damned thing to do with you any longer. To keep the " T " on anything you have only further demonstrates your chutzpah, your hypocrisy and your unspeakable act of cowardice.
Do not ever pretend to do anything for the T Community again. We don't want your kind of "support."
You have lied to us.
You have cheated us.
You have robbed us.
You have sold us out.
You have stolen our safety and our security.
There is not enough vitriol on the planet to describe your duplicity, your level of deceit and your betrayal of the transgendered, so I will simply say to you with utmost sincerity:
God damn the HRC to hell.
At least I can live with myself when I go to sleep at night. How you can is beyond me.
Most truly sincerely,
